What is the process leading up to the wedding?
Let's Connect
Contact me via phone, email or social media to set up a time to chat, preferably in person, over coffee or wine. At this meeting we can get to know each other a little and you can see if I’m a good fit for you and your partner. We will chat about your hopes and ideas for your wedding day, and I can answer any of your queries. This meeting is completely obligation free.
If you decide that you’d like to proceed with a booking, we will schedule a longer meeting so that we can start crafting your ceremony and complete the legal paperwork, the Notice of Intended Marriage (NOIM).
Paperwork
Before we meet I will send you two questionnaires - one about your plans and ideas for your ceremony and the other about your love story. Don’t be concerned if you don’t have all the answers. My hope is that the questions and our conversations will help you (and me) work out what’s important to you and your partner.
I’ll let you know about the documents I need to sight in order to comply with the legal requirements of completing the NOIM.
I’ll have on hand a number of resources, including sample readings, poems, rituals, music, vows and ring verses.
Crafting the ceremony
After this meeting I will craft your ceremony and send to you for your approval. We can finesse the ceremony script over email and until you are completely happy with the finished product.
I do encourage you to write your own vows. There is nothing more beautiful than words from your heart to your beloved. But don’t be scared, I will guide you through the process.
A few days before the wedding, we will meet again to finalise the arrangements for your big day and have a rehearsal of the ceremony. This is also a good opportunity for you to sign the Declaration of No Legal Impediment to Marriage.
Then on the big day, I’ll arrive at least 30 minutes before the ceremony to set up, and liaise with your other vendors, such as your photographer and wedding coordinator. A quick check in with both of you and then we’re on!
Frequently
Asked
Questions
How do we know you will create a ceremony that we like?
Meeting in person (or over the phone or videocall) will give you a sense of whether I ‘feel’ right for you, and that’s a great start. I’ll listen to understand - rather than listen to respond - to your hopes and aspirations for your wedding day. Together we’ll explore what’s important – and what’s not important – to you. Your wedding ceremony should be a reflection of who you are, your values and what you intend. I pledge to work in partnership with you until we get it right.
Do you do other weddings on the same day?
I build a close partnership with all my client couples. On your day, my psychological energy is for you only. Therefore, no, if I can avoid it, I will conduct only one ceremony on your wedding day – yours.
Will you conduct same sex weddings?
Absolutely. Two people + love and commitment = marriage
How soon can we get married?
As soon as you like provided the Notice of Intended Marriage (NOIM) is completed, signed and witnessed at least one month before your wedding date. The NOIM can be completed up to 18 months before your wedding day. If you need to marry within a one month period, there are some special circumstances where a “shortening of time” may be granted by a Prescribed Authority (usually found at a local Court or Registry Office) .
Will you travel outside the Perth Metro area?
I’m always happy to consider weddings outside of the Perth metropolitan area. Additional travel and accommodation costs may apply.
Do we need a rehearsal?
I recommend a rehearsal in most instances. This gives you, your wedding party and me the opportunity to have a run through the choreography, do a sound check, and address any concerns or queries, no matter how small. You may also like to have your photographer and wedding planner involved in the rehearsal.
Is there an additional fee for a rehearsal?
A rehearsal is included in my standard wedding fee.
Do I provide a PA system?
Yes and you can be assured your guests will hear every word of the ceremony. You’re also welcome to use my PA to play your ceremony music. My battery-operated quality PA system will play any device with a jack input (phone, iPod or iPad).
